SALT FLATS ROUTE

The route of this tour is impressive; we start from San Pedro through the Jama International Pass where we will reach an approximate altitude of 4,000 m. We will appreciate a panoramic view from the viewpoint of Likankabur, arriving at kilometer 78 to the Quepiaco plains where a large number of birds nest and is the habitat of vicuñas. We continue to the Salar de Pujsa, which receives its waters from the Quepiaco River. In its geological past the altiplano was subject to a strong volcanic activity that caused the volcanic ash to be deposited on faults and cracks modeling the landscape thus originating the famous rock columns known as moais, sentinels, guardians or “Monks of the Pakana”. The visit ends at the Aguas Calientes Sal Flat.
